Add and edit subgroups
Subgroups are a great way to keep your devices organized. Learn more here.
In this article:
Why should I create subgroups?
To keep devices organized, we recommend you to add one or several subgroups to your group.

This way, you can also manage which users have access to which devices.

Subgroups are the orange tiles in a group marked with a name.

An example
You own 45 devices.

10 of the devices track the position and mileage on trailers. You give your trailer responsible access to your subgroup for trailers.

20 of the devices track utilization data on excavators. You give your whole excavator team access to your subgroup for excavators.

15 of the devices are used on a daily basis on rental equipment for theft protection. You give your rental responsible access to your subgroup for rental equipement.

Now that you have organized the devices in subgroups, you can multi-edit all devices in one subgroup at once.

How to create subgroups
There are two ways to create a group.

-
Go to My devices and click on the tile Add group on the group dashboard
-
Go to Users and click New group on the left side under the Derek logo.
Fill in the name of the new group and press Save.

Note that the field Parent specifies the group to which your new group will be assigned.

You can create additional subgroups by going to your newly created group and pressing the Add group tile at this level as well.

You can create as many subgroups or subgroups of subgroups as you like.

The device has now been moved.

How to delete a subgroup

First you need to make sure that there is no subgroups or devices in the subgroup.

If you can see the Delete button, you are able to delete the group because it is completely empty.

If you do not see the Delete button, actions need to be taken:

-
Move subgroups in this subgroup to another (sub)group
-
Give users, who only have access to this subgroup, access to another subgroup
