Set up Alarms
Set up alarms to stay in control of your tracking solution by letting the data portal alert you to your specific events.
The Alarms feature enables you to receive real-time notifications from the Derek Data Portal when your tracking device transmits to the server based on certain triggers or events. Alarms will be sent by e-mail, SMS or both.
E-mail is the default option but SMS alerts can be set up in Manage account.
Using the Alarms feature
For alarms to be set up and working effectively, you have to be aware of your other settings.

Most alarms are based on triggers. This means you should enable a trigger as well as the alarm according to the following logic: The motion alarm will not go off if the motion trigger on your device is not configured to register motion at all.

In another simple case, the Shock alarm requires that the Shock trigger is enabled and adjusted in order to send notifications.

Other alarms are a little more advanced. As such, the Arrived at/departed from site alarms require the Motion trigger combined with the Geo site functionality in order to work effectively. We also recommend you make sure GPS is enabled to ensure the most precise location data.

PLEASE NOTE: Individual alarms will only repeat 3 times in order not to spam your inbox or phone.

External alarm administration
Push alarms on mail or text message to employees or others who are not registered users of the Derek Data Portal.

This is a great tool in multiple situations when you want people on-site (for example security guards, drivers or construction workers) to get notified immediately when an asset is stolen, removed, shocked, tilted, humid, too hot/cold, or whatever your data needs are.

Simply put in the mail address or phone number and push the Add email/Add Phone button.

After this, select the relevant alarm; note: you are able to add up to five alarm users for every tracking device.

Again, this does not mean that these external recipients have access to your Derek Data Portal. They will only receive an e-mail or an SMS telling them what is wrong and which asset it concerns.

When you have set up an external alarm, it is sent out automatically without disturbing you in your work or during your night’s sleep.
Alarm administration for other users
This feature makes it easier for an administrator to manage all alarms for a device at once.

This enables you to effectively manage alarms for other users with access to the same device without needing them to login.

In an organization or a group where multiple users might need to be notified with an alarm, this feature can help you save time and lower the risk of error.

Please note that you can only administrate alarms for users with an equal or lower access level than you.
Alarm summary
You can choose to get an alarm summery sent as a PDF to your e-mail for alarms triggered from log messages.

This is an advantage if you do not want to receive a new alarm e-mail for every triggered alarm you have set up, but prefer to receive a summarize.
You can select this feature under Notifications under Manage Account.
